ICOM I-LOC

Security Management System

I-LOC & I-READ Security management systems were created because of the need by organisations to run tracking in closed environments where there is no GPS coverage.

I-LOC uses strategically placed low power beacons around a building, which periodically transmits their identity.

A receiver fixed on the IC-F34/44G hand portables receives emissions from the beacons when the user of the portable passes in their vicinity. The identity received by the radio is, according to the mode chosen, transmitted either automatically or by manual action to the base radio placed in the security office.

Easy installation
The beacons are available in two versions. One is powered by lithium batteries (3V) and the other with mains power supply and backup battery. The case of each beacon is compact, robust and waterproof (IP-67) thus allowing for easy installation indoors or out.

Multifunctional system
The beacons can be used continuously or just in case of an alarm. There are numerous other functions available such as: Voice communications, Man down function (detection of lack of motion and angular orientation.

Good radio coverage
I-LOC provides the user with a choice of voice or text messaging. The screen of the hand portable has a two line scrolling display.) The hand portable delivers a power of 5W assuring reliable communications even inside buildings.

Minimal installation cost
Thanks to the independent power supply of the beacons and stand-alone operation, you can avoid the cost of cabling often needed for other security systems.

Active beacons technology
I-LOC beacons use the latest technology incorporating RISC microprocessors with very low consumption and a new ISM band at 868 MHz (licence exempt) for minimum interference of transmissions.

The beacons emission power is approximately 10-mW peak, which gives a range of 20m indoors and more than 100 m outdoors (adjustable).

If the beacons transmit every 30 seconds, the typical consumption is 150 µW (50µA at 3V). Increasing the interval between transmissions could further reduce this if the configuration of the location allows. With a transmission interval of 30 seconds, the battery version beacons have a working duration of about 5 years.

Secure system
Automatic indication when battery needs replacement. In order to simplify the maintenance of the batteries and to secure the system, information is automatically sent when the battery in a beacon needs to be changed. This information is contained in the message that the beacon will relay through portable radios that pass in their proximity to be sent to the base.

Unique identity for each beacon.
Each beacon is unique and cannot be duplicated thus assuring complete security for the system.

Custom programming
The time between emissions from the beacons is easily programmable values of 4, 7, 15, 30, 60, 120, 180, 300 seconds are available. A CRC added to the identity avoids false receptions.

Improved Management with I-LOC Client Software
When the I-LOC system is connected to the I-LOC client software, it is possible to visualize, in real time, all the positions of the beacons and the portables in use (i.e. the users) on a map. It is also possible to view, file and print out all events.

Two Versions are available:

• ¨Normal¨ version: The Hand portable stores the identity of each beacon and sends it to the base on the users command at a particular event (manual alarm, Man down alarm, etc).

• Follow version: The identity of each beacon is automatically sent to the base, without any action or input from the user.
